The appeal came as hospital managers revealed they were currently treating almost 200 Covid-19 patients, 15 of whom were in intensive care, as well as a further 270 for other conditions.
They urged anyone who did not have a serious or life-threatening condition to consider alternatives to coming to A+E including urgent treatment centres or NHS 111.

Hide AdA spokesperson said the hospital was in the midst of an ‘incredibly challenging weekend’ but thanked the people of north east Derbyshire for their ‘continued support’.
“For this reason we are appealing to people to think about whether A&E is the right place for their care and treatment,” they said.
“Help us to give the best to possible care to those with critical illness and to keep this service clear for those that need it most.”
