Joe Robotham, aged 23, was allegedly hit with a bottle outside Vibe on Holywell Street at 3.50am on Saturday, February 8.
He died in hospital the following night.
Connor Rose, 24, of no fixed abode, has been charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

Hide AdHe is due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court this morning.
A 28-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of affray, has been released on bail.
The death of Joe, a solider who served with 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment for four years and completed exercises in Canada, Lithuania and Oman, has resulted in calls for glass to be banned in Chesterfield pubs and clubs.
Posting on Facebook, Jason Rhodes said: “Get rid of glass bottles and glasses and replace with plastic, it’s common sense. The laws need changing ASAP.”

Calvin Parker said: “Why not ban bottles and glasses and use plastic pint pots. I know it's not a solution but it's a start.”
And Bea Smith added: “People should be able to enjoy the bars and nightlife in Chesterfield without worrying about what might happen.
“How many more young lives are we gonna have to loose for something to be done. Such a waste of a life, that had only just begun.”
