Commencing next week Valencia will undertake a planned engineering programme to install up to 17 landfill gas collection wells and associated infrastructure at the Erin landfill site. There may be drilling machinery visible while the work is undertaken.

This follows multiple complaints from Duckmanton and Poolsbrook residents regarding odour, noise and flies affecting their daily lives.

In an email sent to the Erin community liaison group earlier today, Valencia explained that it is the industry's best practice to enhance the long-term performance of the gas capture infrastructure, therefore increasing gas collection rates on the landfill before transferring the gas to the on-site engines for green energy generation.

A spokesperson for Valencia said: “The Valencia team are committed to investing in the site to support its long-term management in accordance with the environmental permit. During this period Valencia does not anticipate increased odour levels. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.”
