Chesterfield’s RSPCA centre has been given the go-ahead to start rehoming animals again – although the branch remains closed to the public because of coronavirus.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has approved new guidelines to allow animal welfare charities in England to rehome safely during the pandemic - meaning the RSPCA will start finding homes for the animals in its care using a new, safe process.

A spokesperson for Chesterfield and North Derbyshire branch said: “We are delighted that Defra has given approval for us to rehome and foster animals in England again.
