No formal action taken against any Chesterfield businesses for breaking Covid-19 rules

The authority told the Derbyshire Times it had received 900 ‘enquiries’ relating to Covid-19, including requests for advice as well as reports of firms allegedly not adhering to the rules.
A council spokesperson said: “Working alongside our partner organisations, we continue to do all we can to support our local businesses during this challenging time.

Hide Ad“Throughout the pandemic, we have been actively talking to and supporting local businesses – visiting and inspecting sites in and around Chesterfield to understand how they are managing risks in line with their specific business activity.
“We have an expert team of enforcement officers that go out daily and monitor Covid-19 compliance across the borough and these patrols now cover evenings, following the reopening of outdoor hospitality on April 12.
“Our team has also been working closely with the Health and Safety Executive to contact businesses in the borough to offer support and guidance and to check they have Covid-19 secure measures to protect their staff and customers.
“While the council has received reports from members of the public about businesses allegedly not adhering to the rules, we have not had to go down the formal enforcement routes with any local businesses to date.”
