Flood alert in place along River Wye in Derbyshire

The Environment Agency says that river levels remain high following heavy rainfall, with the possibility of flooding throughout today, Thursday, January 14, and into tomorrow.
The areas at greatest risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including those in the Ashford and Bakewell areas, it adds.

Hide Ad"We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are patrolling watercourses in the area,” reads the alert, which was last updated this afternoon, shortly before midday.
"Please avoid using low-lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.”
It is one of 99 flood alerts and 19 flood warnings in place across England, with five flood warnings and 19 flood alerts issued in and around Derbyshire.
