It is that time of the year when journalists, fans and pundits make themselves look a bit silly with their predictions...and now it is our turn!
We are all set for what could be the most competitive National League season yet.
Chesterfield will be up there, we think, but it’s going to be some ride.
Here’s how Liam Norcliffe thinks the table will look come May 15.
1. Stockport County 1st
The Hatters were my pick to win the league last year but they just fell short. With a front pairing of Paddy Madden and new signing Scott Quigley, I think they will take the crown this time. Photo: Getty
2. Wrexham 2nd
A lot has been said about the Red Dragons signing last season's League Two Player of the Year Paul Mullin, but I think appointing the experienced Phil Parkinson as manager is their best incoming so far. I think they will continue to strengthen and get better as the season goes on. Photo: Lewis Storey
3. Chesterfield 3rd
The Spireites will improve on last season's sixth-placed finish following some quality recruitment by manager James Rowe, including the man pictured, Kabongo Tshimanga, who guarantees goals at this level. If Chesterfield can get off to a good start and then welcome back star man Akwasi Asante, then who knows what could happen. Photo: Rachel Atkins
4. Notts County 4th
I fancied Notts to finish above Chesterfield about a month ago after some solid signings but I think the Spireites have the edge now following Tshimanga's arrival. I was impressed with the Mapgies when they beat Town in the play-offs last season and I think they will be up there challenging again. Photo: Laurence Griffiths
