Raceline: Tip of the Day, 14th November
Wednesday 14th November
PROVO
Exeter 1.40 WIN
It looks like being a day for short-priced favourites at Exeter, with Captain Sunshine (2.10) and Bold Henry (3.10) also strongly fancied. But possibly the most reliable of the trio is champion trainer Paul Nicholls’s big, strong five-year-old, who bids to defy a penalty to follow up an authoritative victory on his seasonal re-appearance at Wincanton a month ago. On a line through the runner-up, it was a performance that should have earned him a handicap mark in the mid-130s, which would be more than enough to win again here. Yet Nicholls was surprised by the display, insisting there’s more improvement to come. Ruby Walsh takes the ride to get his first feel of a horse expected to mature into a staying chaser, having gained vaulable experience in the point-to-point field during the spring.
